Norcross Community Market was created in 2016 by Sustainable Norcross, Inc. working in partnership with Project Generation Gap and Georgia Farmers Market Association and with the support of the community. 

Sustainable Norcross, Inc. was established in 2008 and is a 501 (c) (3) IRS tax exempt non-profit corporation. According to their bylaws, Sustainable Norcross, Inc. was created to engage the public in sustainability and environmental matters at the individual and community levels through education, community outreach and volunteerism. Goals include innovative activities, education and solutions in the areas of green building, energy conservation and efficiency, water conservation and efficiency, trees and greenspace, transportation and air quality, recycling and waste reduction, and land use.

The founders chose words garnered from public meetings to reflect its mission of "preserving our future by living smarter today". Sustainable Norcross achieves this mission by developing and acting on strategic partnerships with like-minded individuals and organizations.


Sustainable Norcross Commission is also associated with Sustainable Norcross Inc. The Sustainable Norcross Commission is a citizen panel appointed by the City Council of Norcross, GA. Their purpose is to educate the citizens and advise the mayor and council regarding sustainability and environmental matters through development of a measured sustainable city plan and regular communication. Their most notable accomplishment is assisting the City of Norcross in becoming and remaining certified by the Atlanta Regional Commission in its rigorous Green Communities program.
